Orange Prize for Fiction Shortlist

The 2007 Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction shortlist has been announced. Here's the list:

Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Arlington Park by Rachel Cusk
The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai
A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers by Xiaolu Guo
The Observations by Jane Harris
Digging to America by Anne Tyler

The winner will be announced on June 06, 2007. To read more, click here.

I highly recommend 'The Observations' by Jane Harris. A hard book to put down. 'The Inheritance of Loss' and 'Digging to America' didn't hold my interest all the way through. I don't think I can put off reading 'Half of a Yellow Sun' anymore.. I gotta read it now!!

I've picked up 'Half of a Yellow Sun'; but we are in the middle of moving houses; so haven't started it yet.
Besides, I just watched 'The Last King of Scotland' and read a book of short stories from Africa...so I've had a bit too much of Africa lately :)
If you read it before me, pls do post a review.

p.s. I am with Radha, I have seen "The Last King of Scotland" and it's a great movie..makes you want to delve into that period of history to find out what really drove Idi Amin and what become of all those Asians he drove out of Uganda.

@radha - I just put a library copy of 'Last King of Scotland' on hold for me. I can't wait to watch it. Thanks for letting me know about this movie.
@lotus - I too was wondering about the Xiaolu Guo book. I wasn't able to obtain a copy from the local library. I'm going to try Borders or Barnes&Noble next.

* Speeds in excess of 2 meg are only available in certain areas. Top speeds vary significantly, particularly according to how far away you live from the exchange. If your line won’t support Orange’s fastest broadband speed they’ll give you the best available. The speed you actually get can also vary depending on the quality of your line, the wiring in your house, the time of day and even the weather.
